27 Oct 07 - Work has been progressing very slowly due to other projects and commitments, however the stabiliser, elevators, fin and rudder structures are complete. I also received yesterday the complete set of fibreglass mouldings from AeroFiberTech and added a photo above. These are high quality and lightweight fibreglass replacements for the original ABS moulded components plus aerofoil section main landing gear strut covers. I decided to but these as they will be much more durable than the ABS versions. The total cost for all the items was approx $150 plus shipping.
15 May 03 - I decided that I would also fit Kavan wheel brakes to help stop the model on the ground, and I have now got these. I have built the tailplane, elevator, fin & rudder as shown in the 1st construction photograph above. To add scale to these parts I included a 12" (30cm) Master Airscrew Electric wooden propeller. The tailplane has a span of 34¾" (88cm) and the rudder is almost 17½" (44cm) tall. Next the wings.
23 Mar 03 - I decided I wanted to build a large (very) electric model, and chose the Stinson Reliant as a subject. I will be fitting the optional flaps, dummy engine, cockpit details and pilot to improve the realism. I'm currently undecided which colour scheme to use, but favourite at the moment is the Fleet Air Arm colours from WW2.
